The cottage is situated in the heart of the Speyside Malt Whisky Trail with aorund half of Scotland's malt whisky distilleries, including Glenfiddich, Glenlivet and Cardhu which are a short drive away. They offer tours many of which are free, and include a wee dram at the end.
Boat of Garten has Andersons Restaurant, which relaxed and family friendly and great burgers. The Boat Hotel is has very good lunch and dinners.
The Mountview Hotel in Nethy Bridge () has a nice restaurant serving modern Scottish dishes along with beautiful views.
The Muckrach Country House Hotel near Dulnain Bridge has delicious slightly more formal food.
There are many more Scottish, Indian, Chinese, Italian and other restaurants in Aviemore and Grantown on Spey. Good burgers for kids at Roos Leap while the Old Bridge Inn offers a roaring log fire in winter with weekly live music and cask ales and good food or tables outside in summer.

It was great to have some returning guests from May, when the guidelines changed, as well as visitors who had shifted their holidays from last year.

The Scottish Government stated that the guidelines on self-catering will change from Friday 25 September 2020. There is now a one household restriction in self-catering properties, in-line with the restrictions in private homes in Scotland.
